Who absolutely cannot eat oatmeal: a nutritionist warned of the danger
Eating oatmeal can be dangerous for people with certain gastrointestinal problems, especially if it is flavored.
Roxana Ehsani, a nutritionist and media representative of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics , told about all the dangers of oatmeal , reports Eatthis.
The expert noted that people who do not tolerate a lot of fiber or other foods high in it should definitely give up oatmeal and replace it with rice and oats.
The nutritionist also advises people with celiac disease to look for certified gluten-free oats.
The doctor recommends paying special attention to what you season and add to oatmeal.
"If you eat oatmeal and add sweets, such as brown sugar, honey, or maple syrup, you increase the total number of calories and carbohydrates. And people with pre-diabetes and diabetes should be careful because it can lead to very high blood sugar levels," says Ehsani.
She also advises to be careful with flavored oatmeal, as it usually contains a lot of added ingredients and sugar that make oatmeal grains unhealthy.
"For example, oatmeal with maple syrup and oatmeal with brown sugar, strawberries, and oatmeal with cream usually contain a lot of added ingredients and sugar that deprive the nutritious grains of their benefits," says Ehsani.
She advises to buy plain oatmeal and add fruit, honey, or whatever you like to it.
