Fish is the most useful and necessary product, which is a source of protein, unsaturated fatty acids, and vitamins A, E, and D. Moreover, it is very easy to prepare: you can bake it with vegetables, boil it, salt it, and fry it.
Nutritionist Svitlana Fus told us on her Facebook page which fish is the healthiest and how much of it everyone should eat.
The expert noted that herring is a good source of omega-3 acids.
The nutritionist noted that it is necessary to eat fish dishes 2-3 times a week, and even better – to organize fish days.
It's worth noting that the American Heart Association recommends eating fish high in omega-3 twice a week.
At the same time, experts clarify that, just as not all fats are harmful, not all seafood is healthy, and identify 3 types of fish that are the most harmful to the body:
1. Atlantic salmon
Although wild salmon is rich in omega-3 acids that fight inflammation throughout the body, it is usually raised on farms that are fed soy.
Also, farm-raised salmon are usually colored pink and contain a lot of polychlorinated biphenyls and one-quarter less vitamin D than regular salmon.
2. Tilapia
Most of these fish are farm-raised and eat corn, not lake plants and algae, which makes them extremely unhealthy. It is also very fatty, comparable to bacon.
3. Tuna
Despite its excellent taste, it is harmful for regular consumption due to the large amount of mercury that will accumulate in the body and cause harm.
