Smoothies are not good for the body: nutritionist names the reason
Most of the foods that people call healthy, including smoothies, are not. This is the opinion of Australian nutritionist Susie Burrell.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, she said that so-called healthy foods often contain a lot of calories, sugar, and carbohydrates. Therefore, such food should be consumed in moderation and with caution.
For example, smoothies made from fruit, nuts, and yogurt do not fit into a healthy diet. One serving of this dish can contain 80 grams of sugar and up to 800 kilocalories – with such figures, eating a smoothie is equivalent to a full meal. But in reality, it is not.
Excessive amounts of sugar are also found in dried fruits. Susie Burrell says that regular fruit is much healthier for the body than dried fruit.
In addition, Susie Burrell claims that "healthy" brown and brown rice is also a very high-calorie product. One glass of boiled rice contains about 40 g of carbohydrates, which corresponds to 3-4 slices of white bread.
Burrell also dispelled the myth about the benefits of homemade chips baked in the oven. Yes, these chips are indeed healthier than store-bought ones, as they contain fewer calories, fat, and sugar.
"However, they have no nutritional value either. At the same time, you can eat several of these bags at once, which is unlikely to happen with fried chips," the expert said.
