Large meaty and juicy stuffed cabbage rolls can be seen at every feast in Ukraine. Traditionally, they are made from white cabbage and minced pork. But if this dish no longer impresses you, you should make it in a new interpretation.

Ingredients for cabbage rolls:

  • Savoy small cabbage
  • round rice (1/2 cup in dry form), boiled until tender
  • chicken fillet without skin – 2 pcs.
  • grated carrot – 1 pc.
  • finely chopped onion – 1 pc.
  • olive oil
  • spices: thyme, a mixture of Italian herbs, salt, pepper, a little nutmeg.

Ingredients for the sauce:

  • tomato paste – 2 packets
  • warm water – 2 cups
  • grated garlic – 3 cloves
  • thyme and salt

Method of preparation:

1. Cut the fillet as small as possible, you can chop with a knife.

2. Fry the onion and carrot in olive oil for a few minutes, mix in a deep bowl with the cooked rice.

3. Heat a little more oil in the same pan and fry the chicken for 3-4 minutes. Mix with rice and vegetables.

4. Add all the spices, mix well and let stand for 10-15 minutes.

5. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and prepare the sauce: fry the garlic and thyme in olive oil, add the pasta and water, stir, boil for a few minutes.

6. Pour a little sauce into a heat-resistant dish, put the cabbage rolls on top. Then pour the remaining sauce over the top and cover with foil or a lid.

7. Bake for 25 minutes at 180 degrees, remove the foil and bake for another 5-10 minutes.
