Milk cakes like in childhood: a quick and easy recipe
Milk cakes are a true childhood favorite. They are especially tasty when served with a glass of cold milk - the perfect combination. The cakes are very soft, tender and flavorful, and they are so simple and quick to prepare that you will even be surprised.
Food blogger Yuliia Mikulich shared a recipe for milk cakes on her Instagram page .
Ingredients:
- milk - 100 g
- sugar - 190 g
- vanilla sugar - 1-2 tsp
- butter - 100 g
- egg yolks - 2 pcs
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp (or baking powder 2.5 tsp)
- flour - 400 g
- egg whites or egg to grease the cakes
Method of preparation:
1. In a saucepan, combine the milk, sugar and vanilla sugar. Stirring constantly, bring the mixture to a boil. When the sugar is completely dissolved, remove the pan from the heat and cool the mixture.
2. Beat the soft butter with the egg yolks. Beat for about 5 minutes.
3. Add the milk mass to the butter and beat until smooth.
4. Then add the baking soda/baking powder, gradually add the flour and knead the dough. Put the finished dough in the refrigerator for about 30-40 minutes.
6. Put the chilled dough on a floured surface and roll out to a thickness of 7-10 millimeters. If the dough sticks to your hands, you can sprinkle it with flour.
7. Cut out the cakes with a cutter and place them on a baking sheet covered with paper. Brush with egg white or egg.
8. Bake milk cakes for about 12 minutes at 180 degrees. The baking time may vary, depending on the oven and the thickness of the cakes.
