Scientists compare the benefits of animal and vegetable proteins for muscles

British scientists have found that vegetable proteins are worse at maintaining muscle health than animal proteins.

According to the DailyMail, the study was conducted by researchers at King's College London led by Oliver Witard. They conducted tests on volunteers who were given either animal proteins or an alternative based on soy and wheat. Afterward, they conducted various tests to see how this food affected the volunteers' muscle health.

As a result, they noticed that animal protein was more effective in preventing muscle wasting. Plant-based foods can achieve the same effect, but you'll need to eat more of them. The researchers also noted that plant-based diets are good for the environment, but can have a negative impact on muscle health.

"It is better to use a more balanced and less extreme approach to changing eating behavior, i.e., to eat both animal and vegetable proteins," the scientists commented on their study.
