How to properly dry plums at home: 2 easy ways

Plums are very healthy fruits that have a beneficial effect on the entire body, they contain many vitamins – A, C, B, PP, trace elements (potassium, magnesium, iron). They are also an excellent intestinal cleanser, choleretic and diuretic. They can be eaten raw, added to pies, puddings, compotes, and made into delicious jams and sauces.

1. Dried plums with spices in the dryer

Ingredients:

  • plums - 8 kg
  • sugar - 7-8 tbsp
  • salt - 3 tbsp. l.
  • dry herbs - 3 tbsp. 
  • dry garlic - 2 tsp.
  • oil - to taste
  • vinegar - 1 tsp per jar

Method of preparation:

  1. Wash the plums, remove the pit.
  2. Combine sugar, salt, dried herbs, garlic, and mix.
  3. Put the plums on a tray, sprinkle generously with spices and leave to dry for a day.
  4. After that, put them in sterile jars, add 1 tsp of vinegar, pour oil and preserve.
  5. Be sure to turn the jars upside down and wrap them in a warm cloth.

2. Dried plums in the oven

Ingredients:

  • plums -1.5 kg.
  • salt - 1 tbsp
  • sugar - 2 tbsp.
  • garlic - 2 cloves.
  • mixture of Provencal herbs - 1.5-2 tbsp.
  • vegetable oil - to taste

Method of preparation:

  1. Wash the plums well, divide them in half, put them on a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Mix the spices, cut the garlic into thin slices, sprinkle generously over the plums, and place the garlic.
  3. Put in the oven for 3-4 hours at 100 C, it is better not to close the oven door to ensure good air ventilation.
  4. Put the cooked plums in sterile jars, cover with vegetable oil and preserve.
