How to cook stewed cabbage: the most delicious recipe

Stewed cabbage is a delicious and simple dish that can be the perfect complement to mashed potatoes, cereals, meat, and even pasta. It can be prepared in different ways: with or without meat, mushrooms, rice, apples, and even prunes.

Food blogger Tetiana Perchyk (tanya.perchik) posted a recipe for braised cabbage with meat and walnuts on her Instagram page.

Ingredients:

  • white cabbage – 600 g
  • chicken fillet – 300 g
  • walnuts – 50 g
  • white onion – 1 pc
  • salt/pepper
  • canned tomatoes in a jar – 400 g\natural tomato paste – 50 g + water (1:2 ratio)
  • olive oil – 20 g

Method of preparation:

1. Chop the cabbage. Add salt and pepper and mash with your hands.

2. Cut the onion into half rings and simmer in a frying pan for 1 minute.

3. Add the cabbage to the onion. Add water if necessary. Simmer under the lid for 10 minutes.

4. Chop and add the meat, season with salt and pepper.

5. Add the tomato paste at the same time. Stir and simmer for 20 minutes.

6. Toast the nuts separately in a frying pan. Add them at the end of cooking.
