Hearty three-ingredient potato dumplings for a quick meal
Potato dumplings or halushky are a delicious, hearty, and quick to prepare dish that is made with a minimum of ingredients. Dumplings can be a complete and independent dish if served with fried onions or just sour cream.
The recipe for potato dumplings was shared by food blogger Yulia Mikulich on her Instagram page.
Ingredients:
- potatoes - 480 g (baked, peeled)
- egg - 1 pc
- flour - 80 g
- salt and pepper
For serving:
- fried bacon/lard with onions
- sour cream
Method of preparation:
1. Pre-bake the potatoes in the microwave or oven until tender.
2. Cool the prepared potatoes completely. Grate or mash them.
3. Add the egg, salt and pepper. Mix well.
4. Add flour and knead the dough.
5. Divide the dough into 3-4 parts. Roll each part into a sausage and cut into dumplings. Trim the resulting dumplings to give them a neat, uniform shape.
6. Cook them in salted boiling water. They can also be frozen.
