Kombucha can be both very useful and harmful. It all depends on who drinks it and for why.

The famous drink made from fermented tea with sugar is of Chinese origin. This is according to a scientific article on Оnlinelibrary.wiley.com. From there, kombucha spread all over the world and became popular due to its properties: it removes toxins, contains probiotics, and improves the cardiovascular system.

However, kombucha has not only supporters but also critics. They cite the harm of such a drink as the fact that it contains acetic acid bacteria that harm teeth, and it also contains some alcohol.

A nutritionist commented on the benefits and harms of this drink.

"I would recommend drinking kombucha with caution for people with high stomach acidity and gastrointestinal diseases, as well as pregnant and lactating women. It is okay to drink 1-2 glasses of a chilled drink per day, preferably after a meal in 1.5-2 hours. After two months, it is better to take a break for up to three weeks," she said.
