Dangerous kitchen mistakes that everyone makes

According to statistics, more than four hundred thousand people die from food poisoning every year around the world. It can be as simple as not washing your hands or defrosting frozen food incorrectly. Even the most experienced housewives make these and many other mistakes every day, thus risking not only their own health but also the health of their families.

The FoodOboz editorial team has collected the most common kitchen mistakes according to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, which the organization reported on its official website.

Mistake 1: You make this mistake when you taste the food, thus trying to check if it has spoiled. This is considered to be the most gross mistake, as you will not be able to see or smell all the bacteria that cause food poisoning. And even if you try a small piece of the affected food, you can easily catch a disease. So, without hesitation, throw away all the food before the "pests" start to multiply in it.

Mistake 2. You make this mistake when you taste dough or other products that contain raw eggs or flour. The fact is that uncooked eggs can be contaminated with salmonella, and flour can contain E. coli. Therefore, you should cook carefully and avoid products with raw eggs.

Mistake 3: You make this mistake when you defrost food right on the table at room temperature. The fact is that a temperature between +5 and +60 degrees is an ideal environment for the growth of harmful foodborne pathogens. Instead, a refrigerator is the best place to defrost food.

Mistake 4. You make this mistake when you don't change dishwashing sponges in time. Experience shows that they are the dirtiest tools in the kitchen. After all, they can contain harmful pathogens and pose a threat to health. Therefore, it is recommended to disinfect them every other day or change them at least 1-2 times a week.

Mistake 5. You make this mistake when you neglect to wash your hands. Everyone knows about this rule, but for some reason they always forget, saying that nothing bad will happen. But this is not true. Because bacteria can survive in any environment, including your hands. So, remember: at least 20 seconds with soap and water under running water.
