In the coming days, Ukraine will experience an abnormal heat wave. And high temperatures are dangerous not only for people but also for animals.

However, by following a few tips, you can minimize the harm from the heat for your pets. Border guards guarding Ukraine's borders with service dogs told us how to take care of our pets.

The SES advises not to take pets outside in hot weather without taking a supply of clean and fresh water with you.

At the same time, it is better to refrain from walking in the hottest hours, and it is also extremely important to remember the rule: never leave animals in a closed car.

During a walk, border guards advise to walk on asphalt or cement as little as possible so that the dog's paws do not touch hot surfaces.

And finally, the SBGS officers advised to additionally wet the animal's head, ears and paw pads with cool water.
