Cleaning dust, pet hair, and small debris from hard surfaces is easy enough: just wipe it off with a damp cloth. However, it is not so easy to deal with such contaminants on textiles. Thus, cleaning a table lamp shade can turn into a difficult quest.

Still, you don't have to scrub and wash the item. Cleaning enthusiasts have several life hacks for this case. OBOZ.UA has collected the most effective and proven ones.

Sticky roller

A roller for cleaning clothes is one of the most convenient and effective solutions to this problem. Remove the lamp shade, shake off everything you can and place it in a convenient place. Next, remove the top layer from the roller and treat the shade with an adhesive surface from all sides. That's it. You can put the item back in place.

Masking tape

Masking tape works just like the roller: it collects dirt particles on its sticky surface. Take a strip, put it on the lampshade with the sticky side, and tear it off. A lot of dust will remain on the tape. Regular office or household tape is less suitable for cleaning a lampshade. They adhere more strongly to the surface and can damage the textile from which it is made.

Pet glove

If special gloves for collecting animal hair work well with a furry pet, then a dirty lampshade will not be a problem for them. Run such an object over the surface several times and rinse it with water.

Melamine sponge

A versatile sponge for cleaning any surface, it copes not only with stains on plumbing and tiles. If you wet it and run it several times over the lamp shade, it will easily collect all the dust, wool and cobwebs. You can rinse this sponge as many times as you need.

Vacuum cleaner

Of course, a vacuum cleaner can also do a good job of cleaning a lamp shade from dust. Choose a brush that is designed for upholstered furniture and reduce the suction power. This way, it won't damage the fabric.

Removing stains

If stains appear on a textile lamp shade, it is best to clean them with factory products. An oxygen bleach or carpet cleaning spray is suitable. Remember to test the product in an inconspicuous area first (sometimes such liquids can discolor the fabric) and then use it according to the instructions.
