Despite the fact that the active growing season is just beginning, and many garden crops have not even bloomed yet, you need to take steps to ensure a good strawberry harvest right now. In particular, you need to properly fertilize the plant.

How to do this is known by gardening experts who have been starting their season with strawberry gardening for years. OBOZ.UA tells how they feed the garden berry.

Wood ash

Ash contains a lot of nutrients in concentrated form: potassium, phosphorus, calcium. In addition, it is easily absorbed by the soil, making it looser and more drained.

And it's easy to use - just sprinkle it evenly over the entire garden. One square meter of garden bed will require about 150 grams of dry ash. In terms of volume, this is about one and a half glasses. The product should be scattered around the bushes and dug into the ground to a shallow depth with a rake or hoe. You can also leave the fertilizer on the surface, but in this case it will be blown away by the wind and you will not get the full benefit from it.

For very young, newly planted strawberries, the method of applying ash is slightly different. Since the plants are quite far from each other, you need to add two tablespoons of dry product under each bush. And in any case, complete the fertilization with abundant watering of the strawberries. It is also important to remember that ash should not be combined with ammonia nitrogen and superphosphate.

Natural fertilizer with sugar and yeast

To prepare a natural strawberry fertilizer, you need a kilogram of manure and a tablespoon each of sugar and yeast. Pour the manure into a bucket and cover it with 10 liters of clean water. Then add sugar and yeast and mix everything thoroughly.

The bucket of fertilizer should be left in a warm place for 3-5 days. The water in it should be stirred at least once a day. When the fertilizer is ready, it will need to be filtered and diluted with water in the ratio of 1 part concentrate to 10 parts pure water. Such food is applied to the strawberry bed by watering under the root.
