Doctors tell of a phenomenon before patients' death: there is no explanation

Death is one of the most mysterious phenomena that every living being will face sooner or later. Scientists still cannot give definitive answers to many questions related to the end of life.

In addition to the mystery of the death phenomenon itself, it is also accompanied by unexplained phenomena. Nurse Julie McFadden told BirminghamLive about one of them, called terminal consciousness.

Terminal lucidity is a unique and unexplained phenomenon when, before death, patients who have been suffering from serious illnesses for a long time suddenly feel much better. Their eyes become clearer, they have an appetite, they feel a surge of energy, and pain and other symptoms may disappear.

A hospice nurse who has spent her career working in palliative and intensive care units said she has seen this phenomenon many times.

"It can manifest itself in different ways, but often they suddenly eat, suddenly start talking, maybe even walk. They behave like they used to. They develop a personality: they laugh, they joke, but then they usually die within a few days, and sometimes even the same night," said Julie McFadden.

Currently, doctors are trying to warn the relatives of seriously ill patients about this phenomenon in advance so that they are not too devastated when a person suddenly dies after they have become better.

Another hospice nurse shared her thoughts on terminal awareness. She put forward the theory that it is nature's way of giving dying people the time and opportunity to say goodbye to their loved ones and complete unfinished business.
