Not Joan of Arc, but the archangel Michael. Jerry Heil revealed the secrets of her Eurovision outfit, where every detail is a symbol

The famous singer Jerry Heil, who represented Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö, Sweden, showed the process of creating her stage look. The dress for the artist was designed by designer Margarita Schekel, who put special meanings into the costume.

The performer noted on her Instagram page that it was a complex work of talented craftsmen. First of all, the design was inspired by the lyrics of the contest song "Teresa & Maria".

According to Jerry Heil, her outfit symbolized tenderness and strength. The reference was not the image of Joan of Arc, as users might have thought, but the archangel Michael, a talismanic symbol depicted on the coat of arms of Vasylkiv, where the artist is from. The designers were also inspired by the personality of Princess Olga.

"Each new fitting made changes: to burn the dress even more with real fire, to cut the fabric even more. This is not just a dress," the star writes, "It is a symbol of the fate of women, a symbol of resilience, willpower. A symbol of the path to victory! A symbol of the struggle for justice!"

The metal shoulder was created by Odesa-based artist Andrii Chornohor. "The armor, which is made of metal and therefore heavy, left bruises on my memory, which I even loved because they also became part of the number," he says in the post. The image was complemented by jewelry by artist Kateryna Tuterova (SFURATO), made of pewter.
