Lingerie selection consultant on the TikTok-account @janiceroselingerie, dedicated to answering such questions, shared her expert advice on this subject. To avoid damaging the delicate lingerie, she advises first slipping your hands through the straps and positioning them so that the clasp is behind your back. Any other way of putting on a bra when it is already fastened, such as pulling it over the head or legs and twisting it around the body, is considered wrong, according to the counsellor.

However, some commentators immediately disagreed with this view. They argued that this approach can be uncomfortable, especially for people who have limited arm mobility or who cannot reach their backs due to health problems or age. In addition, this method makes it impossible to make sure that all the hooks are fastened correctly.

The salon owner, who runs an informative TikTok account, acknowledged these concerns, but emphasised that repeatedly rotating the bra around the body over time can cause the underwire to stretch. This not only leads to loss of shape and fit, but also reduces the functionality of the product. Interestingly, many lingerie manufacturers recommend fastening the bra from behind.

While opinions differ on this, it is important to note that following the recommended method will help maintain the longevity and proper fit of the bra.
