Since the beginning of the full-scale war on the territory of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Fashion Week team has had to organize fashion shows of domestic brands at foreign venues. This year, however, the fashion week returned to Kyiv with a splash.
According to Vogue magazine, citing the head of the organizing committee, Iryna Danylevska, the event was originally supposed to last only a couple of days. However, Ukrainian stylists had an incredibly strong desire to return to their homeland, so the event was extended to four days.
The opening of Ukrainian Fashion Week was symbolic. More than 40 of the most influential representatives of the Ukrainian fashion industry gathered on the steps of the Ukrainian House on European Square to create the Opening Manifest initiative, a joint statement to the international community.
The first day of the fashion event began with a show by GUNIA Project. The guests were invited to the main gate of ancient Kyiv, the Golden Gate, where they were shown a new collection dedicated to a Ukrainian wedding.
The next to take over the fashion baton was designer Ksenia Schnaider, who specializes in recycling clothes and reinterpreting vintage styles. She demonstrated a collection of streetwear, which was shown right in the middle of the street.
The day ended with an impressive show by the COAT. The brand celebrated the 10th anniversary of its foundation with a show in the courtyard near the National Opera in the center of Kyiv.
The enchanting return of Ukrainian Fashion Week to its homeland was attended by a large number of Ukrainian show business stars who flaunted outfits by local designers.
