Taylor Swift brings the world's ugliest shoe back into fashion

The most popular singer of the planet Taylor Swift was spotted on a walk in New York in an original look from the 2000s. The American star's bow contained an interesting detail - a shoe that had great popularity in the 2010s, although it was named one of the ugliest in the world.

As Page Six writes, the performer looked incredible in a pleated miniskirt and a cropped V-neck sweater. The pop star accessorized her look with Vivienne Westwood Pleasure platform high boots and high heels inspired by "Victorian-era shoes." However, according to fashion experts at Glamour, these shoes are nothing but the inevitable return of Jeffrey Campbell's Litas.

Surprisingly comfortable but with a rather controversial design, the massive lace-up booties kept many fashionistas on their toes. The Jeffrey Campbell 'Lita' boots came in 164 different colors and 65 different versions.

They hit the market in 2010 and dominated fashion blogs until 2013, despite a reputation as the ugliest shoes in the world according to a 2013 article by The Daily Beast.

"They were groovy, massive and quite aggressive. I always said they were technically ugly shoes... but sometimes ugly shoes are the cutest shoes?" - former shoe designer Celine Hakaha commented to The Cut.

The shoe's popularity started innocently enough: most Lita wearers settled on black, which they often paired with American Apparel chiffon skirts and some sort of sweater. But then the shoes started to be released with different colorful designs - from space prints to the American flag.

"Every season, new materials or heel finishes were added. We had versions with lace, glitter, leopard, fur, laser-cut daisies and more," former Jeffrey Campbell employee Sharon Blackburn told The Cut.

Jeffrey Campbell recently revived the iconic style (yes, even the studded version) and judging by how many sizes of the suede version have already sold out on their website, it's ready for a new round of popularity. And Taylor Swift seems to be heralding the return to fashion of this most controversial shoe trend of 2013.
