Zelenska's stylist explains the symbolism of the first lady's images

The stylist of the First Lady of Ukraine, Natalia Kamenska, has revealed the symbolism of Olena Zelenska's images in Washington. The Ukrainian woman took clothes from 9 different Ukrainian brands with her on a business trip to the United States.

The co-founder of the Gunia Project said this in an interview with The New York Times. The First Lady and the fashion expert tried to show their Western partners that clothing manufacturers in Ukraine continue to work and develop in the face of shelling and power outages.

When asked how many domestic brands the First Lady wears in Washington, D.C., Natalia Kamenska replied: "At least nine".

The choice of an embroidered shirt from Gaptuvalnya during her visit to the Holodomor Memorial was not accidental, the stylist noted.

"It was important to wear an embroidered shirt to such an event because it embodies Ukrainian cultural codes, and the black embroidery emphasizes the painful symbolism of the memorial," explained Natalia Kamenska.

Another day, Olena Zelenska wore a deep blue suit and an iconic brooch. The outfit also carried symbolism.

"The blue color of the suit contrasts with the gold brooch to hint at the colors of our flag. The brooch, created by Ruslan Baginsky, is called "Wormwood, Yevshan-Zillia". According to the interpretation of an ancient legend, the fragrant smell of wormwood leads people to the path that will bring them home," the fashion expert explained.

The Americans noted that Olena Zelenska's dress for the gala dinner was "quite strict".

"We chose it specifically to emphasize the combination of grace and femininity with the strength that all women in Ukraine possess. She is from the Coat, and the brand's founder Katia Silchenko also embodies these traits," the Ukrainian added.
