The MTV Video Music Awards is an annual television show honoring American film and television. This year, it took place on the night of September 11-12 in New York State.

Against the backdrop of glamorous dresses and the sophisticated looks of most of the guests at the ceremony, some of the stars' fashion choices looked extravagant and even a little strange. OBOZ.UA decided to show the most unusual looks of the stars who attended the event.

Katy Perry

The American singer Katy Perry appeared at the award ceremony in a rather shocking outfit that resembled ropes – the singer wore a top and a long skirt that were draped with threads and fringe. On her back, she had a tattoo with a QR code (probably temporary) leading to the website of her new album 143.

Addison Ray

American singer Addison Ray seems to have forgotten to put on part of her dress. Her look consisted of white lingerie decorated with feathers and a tulle voluminous skirt that covered only the back of her body.

Anitta

Brazilian singer Anitta chose the image of a seductive bride for the MTV Video Music Awards 2024: her snow-white look consisted of a short corset-style dress with lacing and a tulle skirt that matched her hooded cape (which looked like a veil). The singer complemented her look with thigh-high stockings and silver high-heeled sandals with straps.

Chappelle Roan

The American singer and songwriter surprised with her image in the form of medieval armor.

Dressed in a chainmail dress, and armed with a crossbow, the singer led a group of male dancers against the backdrop of a giant castle, a full moon, and a tall gate that burst into flames at the beginning of the performance. The singer's image was complemented by a hood with metal fringes, fingerless chainmail gloves, and high-heeled sandals to match the costume.

Lil Nas X

The American rapper, known for his country rap single "Old Town Road," appeared at the award ceremony as a pink 90s superhero, probably in order to save the VMA 2024 red carpet.

The rapper wore a cropped pink and white jacket with matching pants and a helmet, making him look ready to fight crime. His look was reminiscent of the 1990s superhero series Power Rangers.

Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope

The American rappers and members of the hip-hop duo Insane Clown Posse attracted the attention of the MTV Video Music Awards 2024 with their face paint and unique tuxedos.

Guest in a chip costume

One of the most talked-about looks was a chip costume worn by an award guest. Although his name is unknown, the carnival look made a splash.

The ceremony summarized the results of the music year, noting the brightest videos, artists, and songs released from June 2023 to June 2024. The organizers also introduced new categories – "Most Significant Performance" and "Best Trending Video" – which were determined by the audience's vote.
