How to make a round face look thinner: contouring secrets
Round cheeks are a cute feature, but many people want to give their faces more straight lines with contouring. The good news is that you don't have to be a makeup professional to do this.
Makeup artists have shared some simple makeup tips and tricks that can help you make your face look thinner. The right contouring technique will help you emphasize your natural beauty, and you should start with high-quality face moisturizing.
Moisturizing stage
Before applying makeup, it is important to create the basis for natural makeup, namely a radiant complexion. You need to moisturize your face with a product that suits your skin type. If you have enlarged pores, you can use a primer. This will help close the pores and even out the complexion.
When the moisturizer is absorbed, apply foundation by starting in the center of the face and blending outward. Don't forget to move on to the neck and ears. The foundation should not be too light or too dark. Too dark a foundation emphasizes the roundness of the face, while too light one makes you look pale.
Why contouring is needed
The point of contouring is to choose the optimal shades. A clever play of light and shadow ensures that certain parts of the face stand out with light colors, while others are made less visible with darker shades.
The consistency of the products is crucial for perfect makeup. If your skin is rather oily, powder products that mattify the skin and absorb excess sebum are better suited. If you have dry skin, you should use creamy formulations as nourishing ingredients prevent skin from drying out.
Step-by-step instructions
Contouring adds depth to the face by emphasizing the cheekbones. The contouring product should be 2-3 shades darker than your skin tone. Avoid the shimmering effect, which can emphasize facial curves instead of hiding them.
To make the play of light and shadow successful, first apply the contouring product where the hairline meets the upper end of the ear. Now go down below the cheekbones, approximately to the level of your eyes. Use a special brush to apply and blend.
Now blend the product on the temples. A slight double chin can also be visually removed with the right contouring technique. The most natural and easiest way to achieve this effect is to apply and blend the product in a circular motion along the chin area (from the ears to the middle of the chin).
The nose can be lengthened too to make the face look slimmer. Apply the contouring product to the right and left sides of the nose with a fine brush and blend. Add a highlighter to the center of the base of the nose or set the result with a lighter concealer.
When choosing a blush, make sure it is matte. If the product contains too many shimmering particles, the light will be reflected more strongly, emphasizing the curves. The same goes for the choice of colors. Avoid shades that are too light as they will emphasize your cheeks even more.
Highlighter can be applied to areas of the face where light naturally falls. Focus on the center of the face: outline the bridge of the nose, the inner corners of the eye sockets and the top of the cheekbones.
