How to get perfect coverage and prevent concealer from cracking: makeup tips

If you love makeup, concealer is your best friend. It perfectly conceals imperfections and evens out skin tone. But at the same time, it can crack if applied imperfectly.

But how do you make sure that concealer is applied without mistakes? OBOZ.UA asked makeup artists about their life hacks. They told us how to make sure that the product stays on well from morning to evening without drying out or clogging the skin.

Prepare your skin for concealer application

To ensure that the product adheres well and doesn't roll off, the skin must be well-prepared for application. So start by cleansing, followed by moisturizer and primer. Apply skin care products from the lightest formula to the heaviest. And don't forget to pause in between to allow the products to absorb.

Choose the right product formula

The ideal concealer is one that simultaneously conceals visible imperfections and helps solve skin problems. So for dry skin, it's better to look for a product that contains moisturizing ingredients. And for oily skin, a matte finish will be important. If your goal is to hide uneven skin tone, then give preference to a creamy formula. It adheres better and provides high-quality coverage.

Avoid redundancy

To avoid the formation of cracks in the concealer layer, try to apply the product in minimal amounts. Take a small drop of the product, warm it well in your hands, and blend it thoroughly. If it is not enough, only then add the next one.

Also, try not to apply too much setting powder. Too much will only make creases in the concealer more visible. Apply the powder with a fluffy brush. After picking up the product on it, shake off the rest, and apply the powder with light, quick movements.

You can skip the foundation – do it

Often, covering only certain parts of the face with concealer is enough to make the skin visually flawless. If this is the case for you, try not to use foundation. The less makeup you wear, the less likely it is to crack or run, so learn to get by with the bare minimum. At least for daytime makeup.
