How to choose the perfect concealer: simple tips

Concealer is a universal tool in your daily makeup routine. It helps to hide dark circles under the eyes, redness, or age spots. The popular product can be purchased in the form of a stick or a liquid consistency applied with a special brush.

Each product has its own advantages, but it is not easy to find a product that will effectively hide imperfections. Experts tell us how to choose the perfect concealer.

What is concealer?

The term concealer comes from the English word "conceal". And that's exactly what it does - concealer provides a natural glow to the skin, covering all imperfections: dark circles, redness, wrinkles. However, this product should not be applied to pimples, because a pimple is a point inflammation, and therefore a place of large accumulation of bacteria.

Cosmetics manufacturer Max Factor launched its first concealer in 1954. The product, called Erace Cover Stick, promised women a flawless complexion and looked like pink lipstick.

How to choose a concealer

The first step is to determine which consistency is right for you.

Stick concealer

Its creamy texture and firm consistency make it ideal for concealing redness and age spots. Sticks are used as a spot concealer for local correction.

Liquid concealer

The liquid version is easy to apply and spread. It is especially suitable for dry skin. Be careful: the product has a dense texture, so excessive application can create a mask effect.

Concealer palette

A professional palette consists of several products, such as a highlighter, bronzer, blush, and concealer. The practical palette creates a flawless complexion with a comprehensive approach.

How to apply concealer

The concealer should be 2-3 shades lighter than your natural skin tone (or 1-2 shades lighter than your foundation). For dark circles under the eyes, also use a concealer with an orange or slightly bluish tint. To combat redness or veins that are too close to the skin, use a greenish shimmer.

Before applying concealer, cleanse your skin and use day cream and eye cream.

Apply concealer with an applicator or a brush. Spread the color over the cheekbones in an inverted triangle shape and add a little to the inner corners of the eyes.

You don't need to rub the concealer in thoroughly - a light tap is enough. Finally, set the final result with powder.
