A well-known psychotherapist explained why it is absolutely impossible to start the morning with bad news and photos of the war
At night, there was shelling, many people were killed, and the hospital was destroyed... Unfortunately, we see these realities every day since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine. However, doctors advise not to start the day with bad news, as it is significantly harmful to health.
Oleh Chaban, a Ukrainian psychiatrist and doctor of medical sciences, advises not to read negative news in the morning on the YouTube channel "Sukhanov Speaks". And not to support this horrific picture with photos from the frontline or places of shelling.
"Google conducted a study on what happens if you start your morning with bad news. More than 10 thousand people were interviewed. It turned out that the analysis of their behavior during the day is very specific. A person who starts with bad news (assaults, bombings, destruction) intuitively looks for bad news throughout the day. That is, right at the start, you start a program of some kind of danger," said Oleg Chaban.
And this program continues to drive us further. Without realizing it, we accumulate this negativity. "You get in the car and automatically start listening to the radio news, which starts with information from the front line, shelling, rocket traffic, etc. We come to work and start sharing this news with our colleagues, as well as asking them: where did you sit through the alarm, what happened to you at four in the morning, and where did you take the kids? In other words, we continue to develop the same topic," the psychotherapist continued.
Oleh Chaban also emphasized that photos of the war make our consciousness even more loaded. "We often reinforce negative news with photos. And photographs have a much faster effect on the mind than read information. And in the evening, we bring home a huge KAMAZ, a truck full of bad news," the doctor says.
The psychotherapist said that this load of negative information significantly affects our physical and psychological health. After all, information has a huge impact on our lives and perception of reality. So he advises starting the day with positive thoughts and news.
"I have a phrase that my patients really like. I always say that no one thinks about your mood in the morning, so think about it yourself!" the doctor emphasizes.
