The Met Gala is one of the most anticipated parties of the year, often referred to as the Oscars of fashion, because it is here that world stars can not only show off their creative looks, but also raise funds to finance the fashion department of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, the only one in the institution that has to pay for itself.
